“Friendly camp hosts and excellent service! ❤️❤️❤️ A naturally beautiful campsite surrounded by Lake Långträsk and a stunning mountain. Clean and tidy!”
“Beautifully located, cozy, and friendly reception. Great to be able to rent a boat. Highly recommend visiting this little gem.”
“The world’s best host! Wonderful place, cozy and rural with lots of history.”
“Just like a campsite should be. Great location, right in beautiful nature, and a friendly welcome. Lovely walking opportunities.”
“We’ve traveled from Norrtälje to Lofoten via Sundsvall, Luleå, Jokkmokk, and back via Bognes and Fauske. Sjöstjärnan’s campsite was by far the best, friendliest, and most affordable place on the entire trip. Highly recommended! Plus, it’s a good distance from the road, so it’s quiet when you’re sleeping. Top marks!”
"A magical place at the end of a gravel road, where the family runs a campsite on their own farm with a long history dating back to when dances and folk festivals made the place popular. Something the hosts are happy to share. A host couple who greets you warmly and waves goodbye when you leave. Genuinely interested and happy that we’ve come—it feels almost like attending a family reunion with relatives you didn’t know you had; that atmosphere pervades the entire campsite. The whole farm/campsite exudes a calm, familial vibe close to nature, with fishing at the start of what later becomes the Byske River. If you’re within 10 miles, you should definitely visit!"

The history of Sjöstjärnan
Sjöstjärnan is an old family farm where my mother, Brittinger, grew up, and our son Ludvig is already the eighth generation here. In 1965 our parents, Brittinger and Erik Karlsson, bought the farm and began developing this campsite.
Later, they expanded the operation with dance events. An octagonal dance hall from Finnberg in Västerbotten was dismantled, transported to Sjöstjärnan, and rebuilt there.
In 1967, a year after my older sister Susann was born, the then-popular dance hall was opened. Over the years, many well-known dance bands provided entertainment.
During its heyday between 1970 and 1995, an average of 20 dance and disco events took place during the summer months. Other festivities included potato dumpling parties, balloon dances, and tar cooking.
Sjöstjärnan’s attractions drew dancers from near and far, arriving by car, bus, boat, or even seaplane. Over the years, the site also hosted company and family celebrations.
In 2002, my mother Brittinger passed away, followed shortly by my father Erik. They both remain in our memories as a happy and loving couple, not only in the local community but also among the campsite guests from that time.
In 2021, I, Beatrice, took over the campsite, and I am glad to continue this place in honor of my parents. I run the campsite together with my partner Marino and our son Ludvig.
